The Athleisure trend started percolating a few years back and has now become a wardrobe essential, proving comfort and style can actually coexist harmoniously. There’s a fine line, however, between luxe off-duty dressing and looking like you didn’t have time to change after your workout. Fortunately, both established fashion houses and boutique activewear brands are blurring the line between the locker room and your everyday wardrobe. Enter: the Givenchy track pants, one of the most worn and versatile pieces in my wardrobe. Whether it be with a white tee, leather jacket and sneakers for a comfortable but put together traveling outfit, on top of workout leggings on my way to a pilates class during the colder months of the year or paired with strappy sandals and a lacey bodysuit for a girls night out, the Givenchy track pants are both a transitional staple and a clever investment piece.

On a more serious note, designers’ ongoing infatuation with transitional sportswear is a testament to a feedback loop that exists between fashion and cultural shifts. To cement comfortable ‘borrowed from the boys’ clothing as sexy womenswear is undoubtedly mould breaking and proof that fashion does not exist in a vacuum. Long gone are the days of bandeau anything and 9 inch stilettos (thank god), now more than ever it seems as though looking like yourself is the hottest commodity, so here’s to the athleisure revolution and vive la elastic waistband!
